Jessie Bush is a stylist, photographer and founder of We The People. Having started out as a street-style blog, We The People is now a multifaceted creative channel including style, beauty, travel and lifestyle. Jessie’s work has featured in international magazines and she’s styled for clients as diverse as Calvin Klein, Asos, Levis and Jimmy Choo.
“I think one of the most important things to remember is that there’s a niche out there for pretty much anyone,” Jessie says, “so be true to yourself and eventually like-minded people will seek you out.” She’s very excited about her position as a #fiestastylista judge.
“I think this competition can provide entrants with a unique platform where they can be heard and share their thoughts and opinions with a wide group of followers.” She’s looking for something new and genuine amongst the entries. “It’s more than just following what others have done, it’s about putting yourself out there in your own way and finding your own voice.”
Jessie’s top tips for a great styling picture:
1. The quality of the photo is very important and lighting is key. Try shooting early to mid-morning or in the late afternoon when the light is less harsh.
2. I shoot full-length to show how the outfit works as a whole. And be true to yourself. Don’t force something, just accentuate your natural style.
3. Avoid clashing colours, like wearing red against a green background – it distracts from the outfit.
